On May 2, we turned on the modify/suspend/resume functionality for intermittent meds in CIS. This means that users no longer have to cancel/reorder medications when making simple changes. In the first two days, nearly 300 medication orders were modified. This should make our system much safer since modify keeps previous medication scheduling information, and doesn’t require rescheduling by the prescriber, pharmacist or nurse. If even 2 minutes are saved in rescheduling for every order, this is nearly 2000 hours of clinician time saved per year.
